I can't believe it's only THURSDAY. I mean really, it seems like I've been here for ages and it's only really been four days. I love it here, so I'm glad the time seems to be going by pretty slowly.
Today we had our first rehearsal! Mikey brought another batch of rewrites to the table (hehe, see what I did there?) for today and the improvements continue to amaze me. Everytime he says he wants to rewrite something I am always surprised and then he brings in what he's worked on and I just don't remember why I ever liked it any other way! Being in the room as a small part of this process that is creating a whole new play is just uncomparable.
There was a smaller group of us today, with Craig, Aaron, Mikey, myself, Elizabeth, Jimmy, Rachel, and Claire. I really enjoyed today's rehearsal since it gave me a chance to talk to people more outside of a big group. I also got to run my first errands as an intern today! We needed some supplies so Elizabeth sent me out all by myself and I KNEW EXACTLY WHERE I WAS GOING - I DIDN'T GET LOST ONCE! For those of you who know me well...this is a big deal. On a slightly related note, I also managed to find my way to and get on (and off) the correct train home today all by myself. It was a pretty cool moment while running these errands and suddenly emerging into Times Square from 42nd St. I'm not sure I'm ever going to get over turning the corner and "bumping into" images that I've only ever seen on TV, in the movies, online, or in books. It's pretty incredible.
After rehearsal today Craig showed me how to use the "Today Tix" app for purchasing cheap seats to upcoming shows. I can officially say I will be seeing Hand to God tomorrow night on Broadway! My FIRST EVER Broadway show! I can't believe it. I'm just so excited.
I had another first today - I ordered sushi right to my room. Let me tell you friends: this could be dangerous for me. I ordered three rolls, edamame, AND fried pork dumplings. Again, *insert monkey covering his face emoji here*. It was sooo satisfying to receive that paper bag of New York take out. Yes, I realize how corny that is but it was a great moment. Needless to say, I ate wayyy too much but enjoyed myself immensely. It was a great night in, though I am forcing it to be my last for the next few days. I need to see more of the city. But for tonight, it's eating, blogging, and Ally McBeal on Netflix. Oh don't judge, it's a catchy show!

I also had a lovely chat on the subway today with a nice lady who commented on the Vance Joy song I was listening to on my iPod. We bonded over our love of former Killers frontman Brandon Flowers. It was a pleasant end to my daily commute.
So for the third day in a row, our quote of the day is by Khalil Gibran. I had no idea who this person was, but according to Wikipedia, Gibran was "a Lebanese-American artist, poet, and writer of the New York Pen League". This was the first Arab-American literary society. And with that history lesson, I believe that's all for today, folks. Enjoy the quote of the day and some of thie pictures from my commute that I took this morning. I felt the MSG photos were appropriate considering the Rangers victory last night.
Quote of the day: "You pray in distress and in your need; would that you might pray also in the fullness of your joy and in your days of abundance. For what is prayer but the expansion of yourself into the living ether? And if it is for your comfort to pour your darkness into space, it is also for your delight to pour forth the dawning of your heart. And if you cannot but weep when your soul summons you to prayer, she should spur you again and yet again, though weeping, until you shall come laughing."
^^If anyone has an idea as to what that means please go ahead and let me know. Heh...^^
